A new methodology for the analysis of total deoxynivalenol, dissolved and adsorbed on cell walls, in microbiological culture assays

Deoxynivalenol (DON) is a mycotoxin mainly produced by Fusarium graminearum and culmorum commonly found in cereals such as wheat, barley, oats, their derivatives. Scientists have been working on different strategies for DON detoxification, with biological detoxification being an approach growing interest. When evaluating the use of microorganisms phenomena can occur, namely, biotransformation (by microorganism metabolism interaction extracellular cell proteins) adsorption walls, both which be present. In this study, fast, simple, reliable, inexpensive method total quantification (dissolved adsorbed) bacterial culture assays presented. This used screenings designed searching DON-biodegrading without requiring analysis metabolites produced. has good recovery (80.2%), reproducibility (3.2%) low limit (0.60 μg/ml) that allows under wide range concentrations microbiological assays.
